January Days of Happy: Day Two!

I loved The Avengers.
Loved.
More than I can express properly in text, even. It led me to finally seeing and adoring Iron Man and Captain America, and appreciating Thor more than I had when I saw it the first time without realizing it was connected to anything. It is even making me consider watching the Hulk movie at some point. It has also opened me to new fic, art, vids, etc.
I have basically been diving into a sea of Avengers fanstuff nearly exclusively for months. This was entirely uncharted territory for me, having zero prior knowledge or exposure to this fandom.
I also love
cleolinda and her Movies in Fifteen Minutes over at
m15m. Always good for a chuckle and reliable in brightening my day.
What do you get when you put these things together?
The Avengers in Fifteen Minutes
And a very happy me.
An excerpt from the work can be found below:
[PREVIOUSLY ON: THOR (2011), Thor's brother Loki found out that he was not actually the Asgardian son of Odin, but rather the discarded runt of the king of the vanquished frost giants, and also he was really super bitter about Thor showing off all the time, and thus: shenanigans. Of course, the last time we saw Asgard, Thor had pounded the Intergalactic Rainbow Bridge into confetti and Loki was making tragic faces in a black hole.]
THOR: Brother! Thou dost live!
LOKI: Yes, of course I do, don't you ever watch after-credits scenes?
THOR: …nay?
LOKI: Well, I convinced your precious Dr. Selvig to work on the Tesseract and, no thanks to you, I did climb out of that galactic abyss you threw me into--
THOR: I flung thee into no abyss, brother! THOU DIDST LET GO SEEMINGLY FOR NO REASON BUT TO MAKE ME FEEL REALLY REALLY BAD
LOKI: I SHOULD BE A KING!!!!
THOR: VERILY, ARE WE DOING THIS AGAIN?!
and also:
A Scene That Must Have Happened
J.A.R.V.I.S.: Sir, are you certain we need to add a bracelet-based window-jumping functionality that allows you to don the newest iteration of the Iron Suit while you are in freefall? This seems like a highly specific yet unlikely scenario.
TONY: You are really underestimating the number of people who want to throw me out windows, Jarvis.
J.A.R.V.I.S.: Touché, sir.
So yes, go read it if you so desire :)
If anyone has suggestions for fic, vids, art, etc, I would love any and all recs. I ship pretty much everyone with everyone and love gen too. I could also use some suggestions for avengers/marvel LJ icons, so help in that area would also be fabulous :)

Date: 2013-01-03 06:05 am (UTC)as for fic, do you have pairing preferences?

Date: 2013-01-04 03:13 am (UTC)I want ALLLLLLL the fic, though if forced to choose I/d say that I have a soft spot for Darcy Lewis/Anybody, any combination of Tony/Steve/Bruce(/Pepper), or Clint/Phil(/Natasha).
I also love gen and team!fic.

Date: 2013-01-05 05:29 pm (UTC)Tony/Bruce/Steve
Perspective by silverlace_vine (polyamory, D/s relationships and one of the few ways I can accept Tony/Steve or Steve/anyone)
Tony/Steve
Between the Shadow and the Soul b
Steve/Howard
Out of my Head by blakefancier (warnings for mental patient/male nurse relationship which could be considered dubcon, and suicide attempt. Never thought I would enjoy this pairing - I hate Steve/Cap- but this is really well done)
Gen
Godchild by griseldajane (de-aged Thor, Loki 'kidnaps' him, familial relationship. It's not updated frequently, but I really enjoy non-incestuous relationship stories with Thor and Loki)
The Loki Problem by elizamechanicka (hilarious.)
My personal favourite ship is Loki/Tony which I haven't recced because people tend to be iffy about it. If you're good, I can give you a million and one recs really ;) I'd never self-rec but should you feel so inclined and enjoy a good, large dose of violence/gore in your fic, I'm Enk on Ao3
There are also a bunch of Clint/Phil and Nat/Clint fics which I need to dig out from my bookmarks. I asked a friend for Tony/Steve recs because my hatred for Cap limits my knowledge in that area, so there will be more :D

Date: 2013-01-08 03:15 am (UTC)Thank you so much for the recs :) I shall definitely be checking most of them out (I shall pass on the one with the patient/nurse relationship, but that is simply due to my own issues on the topic rather than your judgment - I promise!)
I'm a little wibbly on the topics of massive gore happening to beloved characters. Do you have any of your work that you would suggest that are relatively light on the gore to ease me in?
I'm thinking I shall start on The Loki Problem because I could definitely use a good laugh before bed tonight :)

Date: 2013-01-08 06:13 pm (UTC)as for my stuff... apparently I seem to do either not gory or really gory lol "God Loves His Children" isn't really gory, "Oh the Devil and I" has warnings for gore in a few chapters (mostly because of how Loki is imprisoned, think mouth sewn shut, that kind of thing) but the gore isn't continuous through all chapters.
